June Microfiction Mini-thread
Hello to all the new followers. Here's a quick dose of creative writing.
I didn’t get a whole lot of microfiction written in June because I was busy with training for a new job and getting Phantom Whispers: Volume 1 published on Amazon. It was my first time using Amazon’s self-publishing features, so it was a learning experience, but eventually the book came out in pretty nice shape (the print version is nicer than the digital version due to the demands of wrapping text making picture placement on the digital version a bit awkward).
Nonetheless, I did get 3 pieces of Microfiction written. Here they are.
FORGIVENESS:
"You killed my father."
"And you've come to take revenge?" Marteau asked, looking past the sword at his throat into the young man's eyes.
"Actually..." The man struggled for a moment. Then he flung his sword to the ground and knelt. "The kingdom is in danger. I need your help."
SORCERY VS SCIENCE:
The fireball sputtered and disintegrated several feet from the shield.
"How?" Sir Meg asked, "Some kind of counterspell?"
The blacksmith smirked and shook his head. "It's called Night Iron. If we can find a substitute for the dragon's bone, wizards are in for a BAD time."
WE ARE ALONE (The Fermi Paradox):
"Aliens?"
The man in the dark suit took a puff of his cigarette and laughed.
"You're one of those chumps, huh? Nope! Fentanyl. If we don't sell it the Chinese will, and we need the funds. Sorry, you're not leaving alive. Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time!"
Hope you enjoyed. Phantom Whispers: Volume 1, featuring a much more substantial short story collection by myself, JD Sauvage, Hermann Morr, Robert Garron, and Rawle Nyanzi is out now on Amazon, and Volume 2 is currently in the works, slated for October. Things will be getting witchy…
I’m really looking forward to this one. Check out volume 1 and stay tuned!
